Relatives Want Mills Buried In Home Town

Some relatives of the late President J.E.A. Mills are asking that his mortal remains be interred in his home town, Ekumfi Otuam, in the Central Region. They have therefore asked those responsible for the funeral arrangements of the fallen national leader, to strongly consider that option. At the Odomna family house of the late president, at Ekumfi Otuam on Thursday, Mbreteehen Kojo Mensah speaking for the family, said it would not be out of place to consider burying Prof Mills in the town. When graphic.com.gh visited the town Thursday, the community was in mourning. Many said they were beginning to accept the reality of the President's death. Mbretehen Mensah said in the last few months prior to his demise, President Mills had shown special interest in the family at Ekumfi Otuam of which he (Prof Mills) was the Ebusuabaatan. He said the Late President had in May, requested for land to build a new family house for the family. The family members sat in the old family house in a meeting and to receive condolences. Mbretehen Mensah said President Atta-Mills' death was a great blow to the family and the whole Ekumfi state as he was working towards resolving the water problem in the area. He said the President recently provided eight polytanks to supply water to the community while pipelines were being laid for the same purpose. Also he said the bad nature of the roads in the area were receiving serious attention. Mbretehen Mensah said the late President was committed to improving the well being of the people of the area and expressed the hope that President John Dramani Mahama, would continue with all the ongoing projects in the area. Supi Kwame Dadzie of the Odomna Family said President Atta Mills was interested in ensuring that the children in the area had quality education. He said members of the family were in Accra to discuss the funeral arrangements.
