Government Transfers The 74.29 Acre Land To Agu Resources

The management of Agu Resources Limited, a Private Estate Development Company has denied allegations raised against it by Nii Amardey Asamani..., ...a member of the Odumasi, Acquah and Asamani families claiming that the leasing company of the 74.29 acre land situated at Odumase/ Nsankina in the Amasaman District of the Greater Accra Region, flouted the terms of the lease, thereby acting in bad faith towards the original owners, hence the operations of Agu Resources Company on the land were illegal. In a quick rebuttal, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Bernard Kofi Agumey disclosed to The Citizen Newspaper in an interview that the said land was part of the governments land bank, earmarked for the construction of affordable housing to curb the current housing deficit. He said the land was acquired by the government and later handed over to Adicopa Farms Limited, who was at the time farming on the land, per special arrangement between the above mentioned Company and the government of the Republic of Ghana. According to him, Agu Resources has legally acquired the land from the government after paying all the necessary charges brought forward by the government. A letter dated 25th January 2011; with reference number SCR/KS.119/123/06 duly signed by Alhaji Ziblim Yakubu, the acting Chief Director on behalf of the sector minister indicates that a full transfer of ownership of the said land has been done. The heading of the above mentioned letter states, Transfer of title of 74.29 acres of land lying and situate at Odumasi- Nsakina near Amasaman-Accra in Ga West Municipality to Messrs Agu Resources Ghana Limited for the development of safe, decent and affordable housing units. Mr. Agumey said work had already begun for the construction of the 10,000 affordable housing units per the agreement between his company, Agu Resources Limited and the government of the Republic of Ghana, to mitigate the housing challenges confronting the state. Even though there is a pending court case against some encroachers with regard to the said land, of which my company is the plaintiff; the honourable court has given my company the right to commence work hence work has commenced per the directives of the court and very soon, the people of Ghana will see the worth of Agu Resources Company Limited. Mr. Agumey disclosed.
