Late Presidents Spirit Is Agitated Sociologist

A renowned sociologist, Nana Obiri Yeboah, said the current wrangling over the burial place of late President John Evans Mills and other disputes emerging concerning the burial ceremony is a sign the spirit of the late President is trying to tell Ghanaians something. In an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday, he said all elderlies who travel must come home. The controversy surrounding the resting place of the President, if we believe there is life after death and until the 40th day, you are yet to go to the spiritual world, you will be worried in the morgue. He will prefer that there will be no controversies surrounding his death. He needs rest. He added: I am sure all these things are indications that the man wants to go home to be among his people. I support going back home. We are all strangers in Accra. Accra is not the only part of Ghana. The burial place of late President Mills has been an issue of great controversy with a protracted squabble between government and some members of the late Presidents family being settled by Parliament. The former President will be buried at the Flagstaff House, a decision which has been questioned variously because of his (President Mills) objection to the use of the edifice while alive. According to Dr. Obiri Yeboah, the debate and disagreements could be spiritually agitating President Mills spirit. You see all this where to bury him Flagstaff House, Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum wherever - it shows that there is some metaphysics about this death. So we need to look at it properly. I'm sure the late Presidents spirit is telling us something; that he wants to go home. "Do you think if President Bush died today he will be buried in Washington? He will go to Texas! , he pointed out. His people need him and the State should go and support them, transform the place, put new roads, utilities it will bring development to that town. Why are we doing that to the President? he added. He noted that there is a traditional and spiritual significance to President Mills being buried in his hometown and thus serious consideration should be given to the request from the family.
