"Decision To Recall indisciplined Players Is No Panic Measure"

Ghana U-20 coach Maxwell Konadu has defended his recall of Ahitey Ollenu and Fatau Safiu insisting it is not a panic measure. Both players were sacked from camp ahead of the African Youth Championship first leg qualifier against Uganda on disciplinary grounds. The duo were said to have missed a training session prompting the decision from the technical handlers. They have however been recalled into the team for the second leg tie in a fortnight in the game the Black Satellites need to overturn a 3-1 deficit. Konadu has since put up a staunch defence for his decision to recall the players following the charge he is cracking under pressure. Punishment is meant to reform not to condemn and therefore the players realized their wrongdoing and have apologized for it, he told Accra-based Hot FM. I therefore see no reason why it will be a problem to re-adopt them into the team. I think the communication was not clear as some of the information out there in the public domain is quite misleading. I spoke to the players upon their arrival and they have given assurances to be of good behaviours so we leave it at that. Ghana needs to win by at least 2-0 in the second leg to ensure progress in the qualifiers for the finals to be hosted next year in Algeria. The game is expected to be played at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
