Some political parties have advised Ghanaians not to expect much from Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as he is scheduled to play a complementary role.
Mr. Amissah Arthur was sworn in as the country�s fifth Vice President after John Dramani Mahama assumed the office of the President after the demise of the late President Mills.
His nomination sparked heated debate in the country with some members of the NDC criticizing the President�s decision to nominate him.
Speaking to Citi News, the General Secretary of the People�s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Monah said the new Vice President is only coming in to fill a vacancy.
He said, �to what extent will the Vice President ensure that the people of Ghana get some benefit from the Better Ghana Agenda that the NDC has propounded?�
Mr. Monah expressed the optimism that the political and economic background of Vice President Amissah-Arthur will propel the economy of Ghana forward.
The Director of Communication for the Convention People�s Party (CPP), Nii Armah Akomfrah also noted that the newly sworn-in Vice President will not make any difference as the current administration has failed to live up to expectation.
He said, his role is a supportive role and he is going to be in charge of economic management and to a large extent, he has been involved in that as the Governor of the Bank of Ghana so I don�t see any major changes in the economic management style of government.�
According to him, the NDC government despite the changes in the leadership of the party will maintain its policies on the various sectors of the country �and these issues and policies will soon return to be debated and people will have to make a decision.�
