Chief of Operations at the Osu Castle, the seat of the government, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has advised Ghanaian youth to accord traditional festivals the dignity they deserve. He noted that people should dress decently in traditional attires to the durbar grounds instead of the tight trousers, miniskirts and other provocative dresses that are often worn during such festivities. He urged the youth to shun indecent dressing, but rather they should uphold themselves with dignity in their Ghanaian traditional dresses �because that is what has made us distinct from other people.� Nii Lante made these remarks at the durbar of the Ada Asafotufiami festival recently. �It is clear by what we see these days that we are losing more of what has made us distinct as a people,� he lamented. He has therefore charged the youth to endeavour to be good role models to ensure that the rich Ghanaian culture is promoted. Earlier, the Paramount Chief of the Ada traditional area, Nene Kabu Akuaku III expressed gratitude to government for the projects they had undertaken in the area and asked that more of such projects should be brought to the area. He appealed to the President to extend the sea defence project which was to cover only 4.8 kilometres to cover the whole Ada coastline so as to mitigate the suffering of the people who lived around the coast. He said Ada, being an agro-based community, could become one of the largest breadbaskets of the nation if irrigation is extended to the area as part of the SADA Project since the area is already strewn with many water bodies. Nene entreated government to construct the Kasseh-Ada road which has badly deteriorated, thereby making travel on that route unpleasant and dangerous. On the impending elections, he assured the nation that everything will be done to ensure that there is peace, before, during and after the elections. He expressed his sincere condolence to the wife, son and the family of the late president, His Excellency Professor John Atta Mills. Responding, the Greater Regional Minister, Nii Afotey Agbo revealed that government had sourced an additional funding of �185,000,000 to continue the Ada Sea Defence Project apart from the initial �68,000,000. The regional minister expressed disappointment about the many chieftaincy disputes in the region which was stifling the region�s development but commended the Ada paramount chief for the relative peace in his jurisdiction. He congratulated the people of Ada for their continuous loyalty to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and promised them their fair share of the national cake. He entreated the chiefs and people of Ada to boost the tourism potential of the area by cooperating with potential investors.
