Vice President Amissah-Arthur Assured Of Support From Central Regional House Of Chiefs

A memorial and thanksgiving service in honour of the late President has taken place at the Cape Coast Wesley Methodist Cathedral. Our Correspondent Kingsley Nana Boadu reports that key government officials including the Vice President, Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur joined hundreds of people across the country in the Service which was attended by the late President Mills' family members of Ekumfi Otuam and Cape Coast. Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur called on Ghanaians not to feel sorry about the passing of late President John Evans Atta Mills, but rather celebrate his life, which was well-lived. He said even though his demise was a big blow to the nation, the best way to honour the late President was to live in peace as late President Mills had always desired and preached. He was glad that many people had resolved to live the exemplary life of late Prof. Mills. The Vice President extended Government�s gratitude to the congregation as well as the entire nation for their immense support during the funeral and burial rites of the late President. Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur after attending the thanksgiving service paid a courtesy call on the Chiefs of the Oguaa Traditional Council in Cape Coast. He used the occasion to formally introduce himself on his new political status as Vice President, to the traditional authorities and to solicit their co-operation in the governance process. Vice President Amissah-Arthur was assured of support from Central Regional House of Chiefs. He also presented some gifts to the traditional chiefs and requested their cooperation in the discharge of his new functions.
