NPP Scared Of NDC Cruising To Victory - Quarshigah

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described as panic reaction a press conference organised by the New Patriotic party (NPP) last Tuesday, during which it urged Ghanaians not to expect anything new under the Mahama-Amissah-Arthur administration. According to the NDC, the accusations fired by the NPP stem from the fear that a re-energised NDC army was cruising to victory in fulfillment of the desire of its late leader, President Mills. It is pertinent, therefore, for well-meaning Ghanaians to ignore the falsities and spins of a political party that so desperately desire power at all cost, a statement signed by the Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Richard Quarshigah, said. The NPP did not spare the government for the inability of STX Ghana to deliver the housing deal it signed with the government. The party alleged that the Korean company walked away with a staggering $264 million in political risk insurance even though the company failed to deliver its side of the bargain. But the NDC statement took the NPP to task and stated that it was strange and intriguing how the party had come to the conclusion that a Korean company involved in the abrogated STX housing deal was allowed to go scot free with such an amount, adding that it would do all Ghanaians some good if the party re-examined once more its source of such information, since the assertion was weird. According to the statement, the issues raised by the NPP were emotional wobbling, pointing out that Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey, who addressed the press, sought with utmost difficulty to create the impression that President Mahama and Vice-President Amissah-Arthur were incompetent, a position the NPP appeared to be forcefully expressing for the first time about the two leaders. Hitherto, it was President Mills to whom they lashed out this attribution of incompetence only to be disappointed at how after his demise, numerous Ghanaians, especially the ordinary, had all along held the view that President Mills did a tremendous job in bringing development to their doorstep, as well as governed this dear nation of ours in an appreciable way underpinned by his desire for peace, it said. It said it would be pertinent for the NPP to play back the testimonials that traversed the media space a few days ago in memory of the late President. Indeed in three-and-a-half years, the verdict is that the NDC-led administration has brought potable water, electric power, schools, healthcare facilities, good roads, to mention just a few, to several communities of our country whether there used to be none, the statement said. It said per the testimonials about the late President, one would have expected that it would have by now dawned on the NPP that their well-orchestrated twisting of facts in the last three-and-a-half years to [label] the NDC as incompetent, regardless of the unprecedented achievements by this administration which is comparable to their eight years, performance, if not better, has failed to resonate with the overwhelming silent majority of the Ghanaian electorate.
