Abudus, Andanis Welcome Mahama's Unity Call But...

Long standing chieftaincy rivals Abudus and Andanis have welcomed the commitment of President John Mahama to bringing lasting peace to Dagbon. They however disagree on the best strategy to make that a reality. The two ethnic groups have for some time now been at each others throat. On his Thank You Tour to the Northern region, President Mahama appealed to the factions to give peace a chance. But while the Andanis propose using Dagbon custom, the Abudus think the roadmap-for-peace document is the best strategy to achieve lasting peace. Spokesperson for the Andanis, Saha Naa Alhaji Abdul Latif in an interview with XYZ News said they receive Mahanas call in good faith but believe the only way to solve the problem is to stick to the Dagbon structure. We have received it in good faith but our stance is that we should use Dagbons structure and traditions to solve this problem. But Secretary to the Abudu family Abubakar Saddique in an interview said the only way to unite the two families is to go by the road map that was signed. We both signed a document and that is the roadmap to peace. Our position is that apart from the road map there is nothing that can solve this problem or that idea of smoking the peace pip.
