Ashanti NDC Cries Foul Ahead Of Congress

The Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused some supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region of plotting to cause confusion ahead of the partys Frida,y August 31 delegates congress. The congress is to acclaim President John Dramani Mahama as the Presidential candidate for the NDC during the December elections. Ahead of the event, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Joseph Yameen, has told Citi News, some supporters of the NPP are scheming to disrupt the congress. Explaining his claims, he said: the NPP have started posting Nana Addos posters around the stadium where we are going to have our acclamation and that is not going down well with our supporters here. He added that before the announcement of the venue, the NPP had no posters around but just about two days ago, they have gone round to paste the posters. These things will not help us, especially when the NPP just had theirs. I am not sure they would have been happy if the NDC had done same to them before their campaign launch. Mr. Yameen cautioned the NPP supporters to desist from the act and also called on the leadership of the party to advise their supporters against the practice. He said: If they are preaching peace, then their members should adhere to whatever they are preaching. We do not want any violence in the Ashanti Region.
