Old man Kufuor Should Give Us A Break Gen. Mosquito

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has called the bluff of former President John Kufuor over comments that the Electoral Commission should reconsider its decision to create 45 new constituencies. Ex-President Kufuor bluntly told the Dr. Afari Djan-led EC during the New Patriotic Partys (NPP) campaign launch that it is not sensible to go ahead to create the new electoral boundaries with less than three months to the general elections. He said: There is nothing in the constitution that enjoins the Electoral Commission to create a constituency just because the Ministry of Local Government has decided to create a district, So I dont think the Commission is bound by law to do this, it is not sensible, it may lead to trouble so we want to appeal to the Electoral Commission not to do it. In a sharp rebuttal during the campaign launch of the ruling party, General Mosquito, who described Mr. Kufuor as an old man said the former president should not interfere with the professional work of the electoral body. He should not meddle in the affairs of electoral issues, Gen. Mosquito said. He should give the electoral commission the freedom to work. The EC invited us all to IPAC [Inter-Party Advisory Committee] to inform us of the creation of the new constituencies in the presence of the NPP. So if President Kufuor does not understand anything he should contact his party members. I have already chosen my 275 candidates for the elections and we are ready for the battle. We are heading for victory.
