Students have been reminded that the effort they put into studies now will determine what kind of future they will have. Addressing students of the Salvation Army Senior High School (SHS) at Wenchi, the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Mr Mohammed Ahmed Baba Jamal, therefore, asked them to take their studies seriously and ensure they pass their final examinations. The form two and three students are spending their holidays on campus in preparation for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASCCE) scheduled for next year. The Deputy Minister said they should consider themselves lucky to be in high school and make the best use of the opportunity by sticking to their books and build a firm foundation for life afterwards. He said they should strive to continue their education after the high school and they could do so if only they passed their examination well. Mr Jamal observed that there were three types of students, those who are fun-loving, the bookish type who are always at their books and those who combine social life with seriousness with their studies. For those who joked with their studies, he said, in 10 years time they would hide from their friends who had attained great heights in education and held responsible positions. Mr Baba Jamal told the students that if one failed in high school it would be difficult to recover since many people did not do well after remedial classes. He asked them to fear God, be disciplined and have self confidence and always remember that life is what one made it. Mr Jamal said they should believe in themselves and have confidence in their ability since their school is as good as any other school. �There is no better school anywhere. It is the grades the students obtain that matter� adding that if a student shows dedication knowing what to do with his life in future he would get good grades. He promised the school a brand new bus within two weeks from the government. Mr Divine Kpogah, a senior member of staff, pleaded with the minister for internet connectivity for the school. Mr John Selby, Assistant Headmaster, expressed the school�s appreciation for the visit and the promise of a new bus.
