Mahama's Endorsement Is "A Mere Embellishment Of A Weak Vehicle"

The Progressive Peoples Party say President John Dramani Mahama does not deserve and is unfit for the Ahobreasehene or humble king accolade placed on him by members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). A statement signed by the National Youth Coordinator of the party, Divine Nkrumah, indicated that while the late President John Evans Atta Mills deserves to be accorded the "Asomdwehene" title because he lived and demonstrated peace to all, his successor however comes nowhere near him, let alone earning him that title. "The point is that, President John Mahama is a direct opposite of the late President Atta Mills. They are two different entities. One of them, the late President Mills demonstrated his humility practically and earned the title, Asomdweehene. The two individuals are not the same. Ahobreasehene does not fit John Mahama, the PPP statement said. The statement further added that the nomination and overwhelming endorsement of President Mahama at the Special Delegates' Congress which took place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, was a "bad move" and a mere embellishment of a weak vehicle, since Mr Mahama "has failed to live up to the attributes of a leader who is visionary, conscientious, incorruptible and credible". Without mincing words, we believe that the nomination of H.E. John Mahama and the obvious endorsement by NDC delegates was a bad move for the NDC party and the state, knowing that H.E. John Mahama has failed to live up to the attributes of a leader who is visionary, conscientious, incorruptible and credible." "President Mahama has tried to will youth on himself and even at a time we had not buried our late President, something that led many to begin questioning his hurriedness to become President. We hear many NDC folks argue that they have a youthful flagbearer who they consider as energetic and strength. It may true that he is energetic and strong in some aspects of human enterprise but not in political governance. Youthful exuberance is not analogous to astuteness or competence, the statement read. Read below the full statement issued by the Dr Nduom's PPP. ENDORSEMENT OF MAHAMA, A MERE EMBELLISHMENT OF A WEAK VEHICLE PPP The Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) is of the strong conviction that people who have expressed interest in contesting for the topmost position of this land be scrutinized and critically examined to know whether they are fit for the job, credible enough and ultimately, incorruptible. It is for this fervent reason that we, the youth of the PPP wish to highlight the reasons why President John Dramani Mahama does not deserve to be elected for a full term of office as President. We believe that it was a mistake on the part of NDC delegates to have endorsed him as their flagbearer. Other than that, who cares what happens to the NDC or whom they endorse to become their flagbearer? Our concern has become significant because we believe in the progressive advancement of our dear nation devoid of destructive partisanship Ghana first. Without mincing words, we believe that the nomination of H.E. John Mahama and the obvious endorsement by NDC delegates was a bad move for the NDC party and the state, knowing that H.E. John Mahama has failed to live up to the attributes of a leader who is visionary, conscientious, incorruptible and credible. The opposite of these attributes are his portion. We want to state unequivocally that we are not perturbed by the endorsement of President John Mahama as the flagbearer of the NDC. Some may say that there is no difference between the late President Mills and John Mahama. The truth is, the late President Mills as a person was good and incorruptible but the people around him took advantage of his condition to inflict judgment debts and other waste of tax payers funds. The point is that, President John Mahama is a direct opposite of the Late President Atta Mills. They are two different entities. One of them, the late President Mills demonstrated his humility practically and earned the title, Asomdweehene. The two individuals are not the same. Ahobrasehene does not fit John Mahama. President Mahama has tried to win youth on himself and even at a time we had not buried our late President, something that led many to begin questioning his hurriedness to become President. We hear many NDC folks argue that they have a youthful flagbearer who they consider as energetic and strong. It may true that he is energetic and strong in some aspects of human enterprise but not in political governance. Youthful exuberance is not analogous to astuteness or competence. The truth is, todays President John Mahama has always been the acting president since 2009 because at the time when they assumed power in 2009, late President John Mills ceded almost every salient aspect of governance to President John Mahama for reasons best known them. President Mahama even admitted in his tribute to the late President Mills that he was grateful to him for having given him so many responsibilities which allowed him to chair key sectors of government to steer affairs of this country. President John Mahama has always been in Charge of this regime. Now the question is: was he not heading the Police Council when security issues in the country went into disarray? Was he not the one who saw to the collapse of Ghanas economy which contributed to the reduction in the still struggling value of the Cedi when he was the head of economic management team? Was he not the same person going around commissioning uncompleted projects which the NDC unashamedly claims credit for? Was it not the same John Mahama who championed the bad STX Korea Housing deal tainted with all manner of allegations of wrongdoing? Is he not the intolerant one who used the word baloney to try to wish away critics of STX? Is this not the same Mahama who called religious, political and civic leaders useless for making suggestions about the burial of our late President? Where is the Ahobrase ? So why would the NDC want to deceive Ghanaians by pretending that what we know to be old is new? Perhaps we should not be surprised. This is the same NDC that tried to school government Information personnel into pretending sheep are cows! If we continue on this path, our lives will be ruined. The way to go is for us to pour new wine into new wineskins. We are simply tired of the old tricks. The endorsement of President Mahama is a mere respraying of an unrepaired broken vehicle which will not take us anywhere. We believe that the best person qualified for this topmost job of the land is Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom. He has an enviable demonstrable record both in the private and public sectors in Ghana. Ghanaians must give chance to the best alternative which is the Progressive Peoples Party. AWAKE Divine Nkrumah National Youth Cordinator Progressive Peoples Party 0200-529563
