No Amount Of Death Threats Will Intimidate Me - Afari Gyan

The chairman of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, has served notice to politicians that no amount of death threats or accusations will intimidate him from executing his work. The electoral body has come under heavy public backlash recently over the creation of some 45 new constituencies. The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has hit hard on him, which he has described as a life threatening accusation. Speaking at a forum to address issues relating to Ghanas election, Dr Afari-Gyan said he is not new to such threats and accusations of being in bed with the government of the day. Every time we are accused of being in bed with the government; during the Rawlings time, we were in bed with the government; in the Kufuor regime were in bed with the government; now we are in bed with the government; we must be special prostitutes to do that, he stated. He added: Every time you hear Afari Gyan, Afari Gyan. We are seven commissioners so to say that only one person can take a decision is an insult to the rest. I will not be frightened. Dr. Afari-Gyan promised that Ghana is going to have a clean register and technically you cant vote twice.
