Secret Tapes: Double Standards Will Affect NDC Re-election - Kofi Adams

The suspended Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused his other National Executives of hypocrisy and double standards. Kofi Adams was suspended when a tape on which he was allegedly heard, plotting with the main opposition NPPs Gabby Asare Otchere Darko to frustrate the second term bid of late President Mills, got leaked to the press. Mr Adams however wonders why the same stick is not being used against the partys National Organizer who has also been caught on tape promising to infiltrate the National Security and the Special Forces of the Military with NDC loyalists ahead of the December polls. Yaw Boateng Gyan has admitted the voice on the tape is his. General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia however argues that the tape has been doctored by the NPP for propaganda purposes. Mr Adams told XYZ News the partys double standards could cause its defeat in the December polls. I believe a lot of people are concerned about what is happening in the party and some of these utterances. It is for the leader of the party to find out what it is. He said if President Mahama feels that what has been said has no implications on the image of the party, then so be it but that I am concerned about the double standards of some of these our national officers of the NDC. That image cannot help our re-election bid. We must indicate that we are people that can be trusted and that when given leadership, you will be true and just to all members, Mr. Adams said. He accused the NDC leaders of running the party with an Animal Farm-like posture, a situation that is inimical to the progress of the party. But the partys Propaganda Secretary, Richard Quashiga, told XYZ News the two separate incidents are not comparable. He argued that Mr Boateng Gyan was only plotting how to use intelligence gathering methods in the interest of the party and therefore cannot be said to be working against the interest of the party. I firmly believe that information gathering, intelligence work is accepted in competition, he said. According to him, Mr Kofi Adams should not have used the airwaves to propagate his concerns with the matter because it is an internal issue that should be discussed a lot more.
