Dont Worry Electoral Commission...E.P Church Advises Other Churches

The Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church, Right Reverend Francis Amenu, has described the creation of the 45 new constituencies as a constitutional matter and advised the church to desist from saying whether it can be done or not. The yet-to-be created 45 constituencies is clearly a constitutional matter and is not out of place for the church to say whether it can be done or not, he said. Rt. Rev. Amenu explained during an interview with the Times on the sidelines of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the First Ho Company of Boys and Girls Brigade here, at the weekend. The moderator was of the opinion that Ghanaians had been sufficiently sensitized about the creation of the constituencies long before the matter degenerated into the controversy. He advised, however, that if there was a disagreement over the creation of the constituencies, the key players should create a forum to deliberate on the issue. According to him, those who were calling for its postponement because of timing should recall the short period used in planning the burial and funeral rites of the late President Atta Mills saying because we were all involved everything went well. He said almost everybody seemed to agree with the creation of the constituencies but the point of disagreement seemed to be rather the process and the timing. The impression should therefore not be created that three months of the general elections, nothing can be done if planned well.
