Investigate Kennedy Agyapong NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling for the investigation and prosecution of NPP fire brand, Kennedy Agyapong for breaching the electoral laws during the 2008 elections in the Ashanti Region. The NPP Assin North MP has been caught on tape admitting he hired about 1,000 thugs to protect ballot boxes during the 2008 Presidential run-off elections in the Ashanti Region. Speaking on Citi FMs Eye Witness News on Monday, a member of the NDC Legal Communication team, Felix Ofosu Kwakye opined that great attention should be paid to the confessions of Kennedy Agyapong. He said: For NPP to hire thugs to intimidate people, I therefore expect that our relevant security agencies will take immediate step. But mind you, Mr. Agyapong is already under investigations for some reckless ethnocentric statements he made regarding how he called on Akans to slaughter Gas and Ewes. And this matter has found its way to the international criminal court. Mr. Kwakye therefore called for swift action by the security agencies to ensure that justice is done. Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has supported calls by the NDC for an investigation into the matter. The Director of Communication for the NPP, Nana Akomea told Citi News, if the National Security Coordinator or the Security Agencies believe that this statement may have security implications, let them fully investigate. It will be difficult to convince any Ghanaian that there is nothing to investigate in the Yaw Boateng Gyan tape but if they believe that in the Ken Agyapongs tape there are security implications, or some security lessons may be learnt, let him investigate. He however mentioned that the credibility of the National Security Coordinator, Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey is on the line because he dismissed out of hand that he doesnt find anything wrong with one of the tapes.
