Mr Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, the newly outdoored running mate of National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flag bearer, President John Mahama, has in a subtle response to accusations by Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, the 2012 Vice-Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the ruling party is managing the economy with propaganda, stated that the NDC has a proven track record at running the economy and will continue to do so if the ruling party is retained in office. The NPP and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia have consistently accused the ruling party of managing the economy with lies and propaganda. According to the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, the depreciating value of the country�s currency is due to the incompetent manner in which the economy is being administered. But, in what can best pass for a direct riposte, Mr Amissah-Arthur, who doubles as Vice-President, told party supporters gathered at his introduction ceremony held at the National Theatre in Accra, that he does not use text book approach in managing the economy. ��the problem in Ghana is basically the economy. We managed it not by theory and also not by text books but for the fact that for the past 25 years we have practiced the management of the economy�the managers of Ghana�s economy and the NDC put in place plans in terms of its management, but they do not come through due to the changes on the international scene, so we always have to modify our plans to suit these changing seasons,� he said. The outdooring ceremony was attended by NDC Regional Chairmen, supporters, sympathisers and other party executives, who were all dressed in party colours and paraphernalia to make the occasion eventful. There were also supporters drumming and dancing within and outside the National Theatre, who went frenzy when the President arrived with intermittent shouts of �Ede bi keke, one touch and Mahama is a winner.� Mr Amissah-Arthur, who appeared at the out-dooring with wife Matilda, said the NDC would continue with prudent management of the economy, adding that it would pursue education policies and programmes that were better than what political opponents had promised the electorate. These programmes, the Vice President said, would be elaborated when the party launches its manifesto. He called for more support for the NDC to get a �one touch� victory for the party.
