A political scientist, Kwesi Amakye, has hinted that the Mahama-Amissah-Arthur ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not fly in the 2012 elections.
He said the duo � President John Dramani Mahama and his vice Kwesi Amissah-Arthur � have presided over �terrible inadequacies in the system� and have little time on their hand to right the wrongs of government officials.
�The pair might be good,� Mr. Amakye told Accra-based Joy FM. �Look at the posture of President Mahama in terms of bringing down tension in our politics. He�s done excellent within a very short time and interestingly the party also decided to go in for someone with knowledge in economics as their running mate.�
He added: �But they are supervising over a terrible inadequacy in the system. I think they will want to address the issue of horizontal accountability in the State now before December when the good people will subject them to another test and tell whether they should be allowed another term. So I do not think the call for renewal of mandate is really due now. I don�t think they are ready even to go out and campaign.�
According to Mr. Amakye, these issues including the several cases of controversial judgment debts will affect the NDC�s chances of winning the elections.
