Volta NDC Gurus Meet...Ahead of Manifesto Launch Tomorrow In Ho

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will tomorrow launch its manifesto for the December 2012 elections, which is about two months away. The manifesto, according to the party, will be outdoored at the Ho Jubilee Park, in the Volta Regional capital. It is unclear whether the title of the document will be People MatterYou Matter.. Ahead of the launch, party gurus from the Volta Region, last Sunday held a crunch meeting to put in place the necessary arrangements for the event, which will be graced by President John Mahama and his Vice, Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur. Party stalwarts from Southern, Central and Northern parts of the region also discussed some issues of importance affecting the people at the said meeting. Present were Prof. Kofi Awonoor, Commodore Steve Obimpeh, Mr. Dan Abodakpi, Modestus Ahiable and others. A statement from the John Mahama Campaign Office signed by its Coordinator, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, did not give details of the manifesto but said further information would be announced in due course. However, The Herald sources say that the yet to-be-launched manifesto contains nothing but realistic policies that will continue the Better Ghana Agenda started by the late President Mills which is being continued by his Vice, John Mahama who is now the President. The manifesto launch is probably, the last of the partys major programmes after it held a Special Delegates Congress at Kumasi to elect President John Mahama, following the sudden demise of its leader and President, John Evans Atta Mills, last July. Last month, President John Mahama at the National Theatre in Accra outdoored his Vice-Presidential candidate for the election, Mr. Amissah-Arthur, who also happens to be the current Vice-President. The President, who just returned from the 67th United Nations General Assembly where he addressed the various heads of state, is in the Central Region continuing his campaign to be elected as President while the Vice President Mr. Amissah-Arthur is in the Western Region for the same reason. Ahead of the launch tomorrow, the Vice-President has announced that the NDC government if maintained would build 200 new community day schools to reduce infrastructural deficit in the Senior High Schools (SHS) level throughout the country. He has also promised a public university in the Eastern Region which is the only region without a public university.
