Thomas Andoh, a 24-year-old presenter of GTVs weather forecast, has won the title of Male Icon 2012 in a keenly contested event at the Kama Conference Centre in Accra. Thomas, a Political Science graduate of the University of Ghana, contested for the title with nine other contestants namely Otis Kwame Quaicoe (painter/model); Isaac Osei Debrah (Accra Polytechnic); Anthony Mensah (Institute of Professional Studies); Osei Sebastian Apenteng (IPMC); Frank Nana Kojo Antwi (Wisconsin International University); Daniel Appoh (Creative Land School of Broadcasting and Media); Kenny Jim Parku (Direct Sales Executive); Eric Tetteh Ayertey (graduate, University of Ghana) and Patrick Adjei Nketia (marketing executive). All 10 contestants went through a presentation on various social issues of their choices, after which they answered questions based on their presentations. This was followed by a talent segment and a fashion show dubbed Cover Boy to test their creativity and sense of fashion. The number was pruned to five after the above rounds, with Isaac, Anthony, Frank, Patrick and Thomas still standing tall. A compulsory question and why each of them thought they should be selected as Male Icon Ghana 2012 decided the winner. There were great performances from Jim 1 and hip-hop sensation Gemini, who shook the house with his electrifying stagecraft. Thomas walked away with a trip to South Africa, a contract as a spokesperson for American-based youth in Agric NGO, Truth X Vision, television and magazine appearances as well as heading a charity fashion show early next year.
