A Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku, has described President John Mahamas statement at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto launch as someone acting and behaving like a coward.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday, Mr. Awuku said the NDC flagbearer was vague in his policies on fighting corruption.
Nana Akufo-Addo in his presentation last night [Wednesday] was not vague in his pronouncements, but was emphatic that the President himself was involved and cited a few scandalous deals with the issues of the STX and Embraer 190. I thought the president was going to respond to these specific allegations rather than being vague, he said.
We believe that the fight against corruption is a deep one, therefore we should have punitive measures and a determined government with a political will to help fight corruption, Awuku added. Jerry Rawlings has always made it clear whenever he mounted the platform or podium that there was crass corruption in the NDC government.
Under the previous NPP administration, there were laws that helped check these practices and social canker. We introduced the Procurement Act and the Financial Administration Act, he stated.
The Deputy Communications Director accused the NDC administration of having being cited in various corrupt deals, so this government is not a government that can help retrieve our money or bring us hope.
He said: I am convinced that come 2013, we will see a new Ghana where people who have squandered state resources will be brought to book no matter how long it takes.
