Guard Ballot Box...

THE OUTSPOKEN New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia Constituency in Kumasi, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has charged his party members across the country to stay and guard the ballot box during the December 7, general elections. He stated that from the look of things, the NPP could easily emerge victorious in the polls and stressed that it was important for the members of the party to remain vigilant on the voting day to prevent callous people from trying to influence the results of the elections. Dr. Prempeh, who was popularly called Napo, empathically stated that if the elections were held in a free and fair manner, the NPP would unseat the non-performing National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, headed by President John Dramani Mahama. He was, however, quick to caution the NPP members that the election 2012 victory would not come on a silver platter, reiterating his earlier call on members of the party to be vigilant, especially on the election day so as to avert unscrupulous people from taking advantage of the party. Napo was addressing thousands of NPP supporters in the Manhyia Constituency who had defied a heavy downpour and stayed at Duase for close to 10hours to welcome the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, who was visiting the area to campaign last Wednesday. Aside guarding the ballot box on the voting day, he also entreated the NPP supporters across the country to intensify their campaign wherever they found themselves so that other people, notably the floating voters, would join the party. According to him, the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo had the best message of hope for the country. Therefore, he urged the partys fans to spread their presidential candidates message of hope, notably the free Senior High School (SHS) policy, to all and sundry. Ghanaians, he observed, were in great pain and severe hardship following the NDCs failure to introduce programmes to better their lives, insisting that anyone who heard the NPPs message of hope, would instantly join the party to move the country from its current mess. The Manhyia MP observed with sorrow that the NDC administration has retarded Ghanas development, insisting that Ghana has remained standstill in terms of development and progress since the NDC government took over political power about four years ago. Dr. Prempeh stressed that the NDC has, so far, proven beyond every reasonable doubt that managing the affairs of the state was above them. He urged the electorate to put their hope and trust in an astute politician of the calibre of Nana Akufo-Addo to save Ghana from its present predicaments brought on the country due to NDCs bad leadership. Nana Okays Napo On his part, Nana Akufo-Addo, who seemed touched by the huge crowd, showered praises on Napo, and described him as one of the best performing MPs in the country currently. Showering praises on Napo for his valuable contributions on the floor of Parliament and his overall contributions to the advancement of the NPP, Nana Addo said he was proud of the Manhyia MP. Nana Addo entreated residents of Manhyia to vote massively for him and Napo in the general elections, stressing that Ghana urgently needed the NPP to transform her. The NPP flagbearer praised the electorate of Manhyia for voting massively for him in the 2008 polls. He told them that he was expecting them to repeat their shining example in the coming polls. Nana Addo said education was the key to Ghanas future: This is my reason of coming out with the free SHS so that our young ones, who are the future leaders, would be educated properly.
