Rawlings Presence Was More Important Than What He Said Yaw Boateng Gyan

National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan, says the ruling party is not much bothered by the fiery remarks made by the Founder, ex-President Jerry John Rawlings, at the launch of the NDCs Manifesto in Ho. According to him, the presence of the founder at the Jubilee Park, venue of the function, was to the NDC of more importance than what he said or did not say. He added that Mr. Rawlings is noted for such outbursts and therefore what he said on Thursday in the Volta Region does not come to the party as a surprise. Mr Rawlings stormed the Manifesto launch of the party he founded at the Ho Jubilee Park with a challenge to President Mahama to exorcise what he described as old evil dwarfs within the party. When he mounted the dais for his speech, former President Rawlings virtually said nothing about the manifesto being launched, but reinforced his long held sentiments about certain evil forces in the NDC working behind the scenes to scuttle the fortunes of the party. I believe our President is beginning to see for himself, the actions of these same old evil dwarfs, he told teeming supporters at Ho amidst silence from the top echelons on the dais. Speaking however in an interview on Okay FMs Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Wofa Yaw Boateng Gyan stated emphatically that the party is not bothered at all by the founders somewhat derogatory speech. What Rawlings said in Ho is nothing new; I dont see why people are making a big fuss out of it. This is how Rawlings talks since time in memorial so nobody should be surprised, he said. Wondering who the evil dwarfs are, if indeed there are such beings in the NDC, the NDC National Organiser sought to find out when did they become old, evil and dwarfs. in those days early days of the P/NDC era, how were they and how did we, including Rawlings himself, describe ourselves then? he quizzed. He was of the view that since one person cannot be said to be a repository of knowledge, what the former president said are his personal views and cannot pass for a conclusive statement of fact. President Mahama is now in charge and he is an experienced politician and therefore will choose what is best for him from all the different shades of opinions that will be tabled before himthe NDC will sift through Mr Rawlings pronouncement, take on board what is germane and ignore the irrelevant aspectbesides at his (Rawlings) age, it is not everything he says that we attach much importance to it, Yaw Boateng Gyan said.
