Amazing; Self-Acclaim Post Independence Crew Struggling To Play Catch-Up

Managing Editor of the Searchlight Newspaper, Mr. Ken Adjei Kuranchie says it is interesting how flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo Addo, is now setting the agenda for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). According to him, the NPP flagbearer is now setting the agenda and the young post independent crew are scrambling to catch up. President Mahama addressing NDC supporters at the partys official Manifesto launch in Ho replied to the litany of allegations raised by the NPP against him and his party. He revealed that the NDC will promote equity in education especially at the SHS level in order to enhance the FCUBE which is a constitutional obligation, adding that his party will concentrate more resources to improve access to education by building more Senior High Schools when it is retained in power next year. Speaking however on Citi Big Issues political discussion programme, Ken Kuranchie derided the Presidents speech on education, describing it as a parody of the NPPs free SHS education policy. He said Nana Addo has now become the agenda setter for the NDC, stressing that the NPP leader "set the agenda on education, corruption and transforming Ghana, then President Mahama spent virtually his entire speech at the NDCs Manifesto launch to respond to Nana Addo. The self acclaimed youth are now scrambling to (play) catch up with him; very interesting...I wonder the kind of handlers that the president has, because strategically, it is not good for your opponent to set the agenda for you, he added. He noted that President Mahama should have put forward the partys objectives and later issue a response to Nana Addo as an afterthought or an addendum, than to have made the NPPs assertions the focus of his speech. the president (John Mahama) is in a position to create an alternative agenda but unfortunately he decided to play to Nana Addos gamethe free SHS is extremely feasible especially because it can be fitted into the national budget and the Presidents speech also confirmed it was possible, the Searchlight newspaper editor said.
