Chinese Company Flies Gbevlo Lartey - Kennedy Agyapong

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North in the Central region, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has accused the National Security Coordinator, Lt. Col. (Rtd) Larry Gbevlo-Lartey of awarding contract worth $129.9 million to a Chinese firm which later paid for his trip to China. The company was said to have assisted the National Security Coordinator to travel to China in an all expenses paid trip in a move that smacks of conflict of interest. He further alleged that the company had been granted tax exemption in the region of $40 million despite millions of dollars that it would receive. I know Gbevlo and his men will come and arrest me because of this issue, but Ill continue to tell the truth since Ghana belongs to all of us, he said. Mr. Agyapong made the revelation over the weekend at Mankessim in the Mfantseman West Constituency when the aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the area, Stephen Asamoah Boateng aka Asabee launched his 2012 campaign. The event was attended by thousands of NPP supporters from the constituency, regional and national levels as well as aspiring MPs of the party. Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Mr. Agyapong alleged that due to the companys refusal to pay taxes, it had pledged to buy tickets for children of former President Mills brothers to travel overseas. The company has been printing T-shirts for the party free too for their campaigns, he stated. Mr. Agyapong disclosed that the Mills-Mahama administration was the most corrupt government in the countrys history, saying old and young ministers had raided the nation for their selfish interest without thinking of the poor Ghanaian. The vociferous MP stressed the need for Ghanaians to continue to pray for long life for the founder of National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings to enable him lambast the corruption and greedy bastards in the party. What crime have we committed that NDC gurus are stealing the countrys resources as if the country is coming to an end, he added A Deputy Communication Director the party, Sammy Awuku said the impossible NDC party was being led by John the impossible, who thinks NPP cannot implement the free Senior High School (SHS) education in the country. NDC said we could never institute the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) as well as implement certain polices to better the lives of our people but we were able to do more than what we could do, he stated. A member of the communication team, Adomako Baafi stated that the NDC government owes 26.3 billion within three and half years as against GH8.3 in the eight-year tenure of the NPP. He appealed to people in the area to vote for Asabee, who worked hard to uplift the image of the area when he was a minister. On his part, Asabee promised to construct the Mankessim Market to boost economic activities in the area as well as reconstruct some deplorable roads in the town.
