Konadu Rawlings FINALLY Picks NDP Forms

Credible information reaching Peacefmonline.com indicates that former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, has picked up forms to contest the flagbearership position of the National Democratic Party (NDP). Mrs Rawlings is reported to have bought her forms on Monday afternoon after expressing her preparedness to contest the position being fought for by three other unnamed persons. The former First Lady fell out with the NDC when she lost miserably to the late President John Evans Atta Mills in her bid to become the party's flagbearer Nana Konadu at the infamous Sunyani Congress. She was then a former vice chairperson of the ruling party. Following that defeat, she has been missing in action at NDC functions. Indeed, it is on public record, that at the Endorsement of President Mahama at the Kumasi Sports Stadium, the nomination and subsequent approval of Vice-President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as running mate to Mr Mahama at the National Theatre, then at the NDCs Manifesto Launch in Ho, last Thursday, Mrs Rawlings was not invited by the NDC leadership. Thus, confirming grapevine reports that she is not in the good books of the ruling party. Her decision to run for the NDP flagbearership position, is therefore seen by some political pundits, as another attempt to revive her presidential ambition. The NDP is expected to go to congress on Saturday, October 13, where Mrs. Rawlings will likely be elected as flagbearer of the party ahead of the December polls, eventhough sources say two other persons have so far picked forms to contest that position. The NDP, according to sources, will use Saturday's congress to elect its functional executives in readiness for the 2012 electoral battle. Ten delegates from all the 230 constituencies will congregate at the Kumasi Sports Stadium to partake in the upcoming event.
