Even NASA Might Find It Difficult Locating A Single Infrastructure Put Up By NPP

It is quite evident that the issue of $750 million Eurobond loan that the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration secured in 2007 and how it utilized the funds will not go away anytime soon. Deputy Minister for Finance, Fifi Kwetey, has again raised the issue; this time, in far away Japan where he is leading a government delegation to the annual IMF/World Bank spring meetings which opened in Tokyo on Tuesday. Speaking to Radio Gold in an interview, the deputy Finance Minister accused the Kufuor government of squandering the $750 million loan and dared the opposition party to pinpoint just one major infrastructure; whether a road, bridge, housing facility, water system, energy infrastructure, school or hospital that the money was used for. In a derisive tone, he described the NPP as a group of desperate people and wondered if government should contact the United States of Americas National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to assist the nation with one of their most sophisticated satellites in order to locate a single project undertaken by the NPP with the Eurobond it procured whilst in office. They should just point out one major road, hydrant, railway line and infrastructure that you (NPP) used the money foryou (NPP) cant. Now these are the same people who are pretending that loans per say is a problem which again shows their hypocrisyIf loans were problems, would these people have gone soliciting $1 billion in a hairdressing saloon? If loans per say were a problem, would they have actually wasted the tax payers money and time and made the country go into another embarrassment? the deputy minister asked. He added that what sets the ruling party apart from the NPP, is the fact that unlike the opposition party, the NDC understands that loans, when properly used are not a debt at all but a massive investment that brings about transformation to a country.
