Baba Jamal Hopeful Of Winning

Mr Mohammed Ahmed Baba Jamal, Deputy Minister of Tourism, who is contesting the Akwatia Constituency Parliamentary seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December polls has expressed confidence of winning. He declared that he will beat the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Dr. Kofi Asare of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) this time round to occupy the seat. Mr Baba Jamal said though he failed in three successive Parliamentary elections, this time with the massive support he was receiving, there was no way that he would fail to capture the seat. The Parliamentary aspirant made these remarks when he launched his campaign at Akwatia on Thursday. The Deputy Minister said he would prove to the "doubting Thomases that perseverance pays. He thanked his supporters for standing by him all the 12 years he had been attempting to get to Parliament. Mr Baba Jamal challenged his supporters to intensify their campaign to make victory certain. He said despite the fact that he was not the MP he had helped in the divestiture of the Ghana Consolidated Diamond (GCD) to the Great Consolidated Diamond Limited (GCDL) to ensure that all the workers of the former company received in full all their entitlements. The aspiring Parliamentarian said that was among the promises he made to the people of Akwatia and also the creation of a separate District out of the Kwaebibirem District which had become a reality with the inauguration of the Denkyembuo District. Mr Baba Jamal asked for the active support of the people of the constituency so that together the new district would be transformed and the lives of the people made richer. Mr Bismark Tawiah Boateng, NDC Eastern Regional Organizer, asked for unity within the ranks of the party and said everyone should learn to forgive each other. He asked the polling station agents of the party to be extra vigilant on the polling day. Mr Yaw Boateng-Gyan, National Organizer of the NDC, said he worked with Mr Baba Jamal at the party's National headquarters and described him as a hard -working, honest and humble man who was never discouraged. He said elections were not battles to be fought with violence but rather a peaceful process to choose leaders. Mr Boateng-Gyan also advised the electorate to conduct their campaigns and voting peacefully.
