Confirmed: Rawlings To Attend NDP Congress

Spokesperson of former President Jerry John Rawlings, Kofi Adams, has confirmed the former Presidents attendance to the upcoming congress of the National Democratic Party (NDP). The former President has been invited as the Guest Speaker of the Congress which will be held on Saturday, 13th October 2012. There have been so many questions and controversies as to whether the former President will be responding to the invitation or not. Many have said that if truly the former President attends the congress, it will be an indication that he has left the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for good. However, speaking in an interview on Citi Eye Witness News with Shamima Muslim, Kofi Adams says so long as the former President is a statesman and has been invited, he will attend. According to him, his (former Presidents) attendance is no indication that he has sever ties with the NDC; neither has he breach any article of the NDCs constitution. The former President has said time and again that he will not leave the NDC. He has been invited as the Guest Speaker and he will be there in that capacity. I dont see that as a breach of the constitution. The fact that he is going does not mean that he has left the NDC to join the NDP he said.
