Respect Nana Konadus Decision - Prez Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to respect the decision by former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, to contest this years election on the ticket of the National Democratic Party (NDP). Speaking on his arrival at the Kotoka International Airport from his tour of the Volta and Northern regions, President Mahama stated that every Ghanaian has the right to support and join any political party of their choice. He said: I think one of the cardinal principles in our constitution is freedom of association and so people are free to belong to any party or associate with any party that they want. President Mahama also mentioned that I dont think that its a big deal, but I think we must respect their human rights to associate with a new party if they want to. I believe that our campaign is going well and God is on our side and I believe that we are going to be victorious. He further advised that an end should be brought to the process where when you win, then people feel they are excluded from whats going on in this country. We are all Ghanaians and we must all be a part of what is happening in this country. The NDC flagbearer opined that businesses should not suffer when a particular party wins elections. According to him, everybody should be allowed to realise his or her full potential as his trips around the country has revealed that there is still a lot of work to be done. In four years, this government has done significantly much. He, however, noted that his campaign message of continuing with the Better Ghana Agenda is catching up well with voters. He said: Every district I have gone to, you can see the fruits of the Better Ghana Agenda, especially in the educational institutions, elimination of schools under trees, expansion of infrastructure in secondary schools to absorb more students; roads, but everywhere you go, you realize that there is still more work to be done and so it fires me up. My mind is just going beyond the campaign and the election and saying that after we have won, we need to roll out our manifesto and our infrastructural development as soon as possible so that we are able to leverage the creative potential of our people, he explained.
