NDC, PPP Pays Filling Fee For All Candidates

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) have paid the GHC 1,000 filling fee for all parliamentary candidates contesting the 275 constituencies nationwide. Mr Gabriel Manu, Tema Metropolitan Electoral Director, said this on Thursday when parliamentary candidates for the NDC and the PPP in the Tema Central and Kpone- Katamanso constituencies visited the Tema office of the Electoral Commission to file their nominations to contest the December 7 election. Mr Manu therefore accepted their documents without the required bankers draft. He urged all contestants to see the election as a competition rather than a fight in order to ensure a free and fair election in the Tema Metropolis and the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality. Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, NDC parliamentary candidate for the Kpone-Katamanso, promised to conduct a clean, issue based campaign. Nii Laryea, who is also the Greater Accra Regional Minister, said as the head of the Regions Security Council, he would ensure that peace prevailed in the region before, during and after the election. Mr Kwabena Okyere, the parliamentary candidate of the PPP in Tema Central, thanked the EC for its strict processes in scrutinizing the forms to ensure that all requirements were met. Mr James Enu, NDC parliamentary candidate for Tema Central who also presented his nomination forms, promised a campaign devoid of insults and personal attacks. He said he would establish a legal NGO to cater for the legal needs of the residents of the constituency as well create a link between the industries in the metropolis and the unemployed youth. Mrs Susan Adu Amankwah, Convention Peoples Party (CPP) candidate for Tema West, also expressed her happiness at the fair and smooth nature of the filling process. She promised to tackle the infrastructure, sanitation and other prcising issues facing the constituency when voted for.
