Rawlings Joins NDC Campaign Trail?

There appears to be conflicting reports as to whether former President Jerry John Rawlings has indeed decided to join the campaign trail of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). According to RadioXYZonline.com, Mr Rawlings, who has been at loggerheads with the leadership of the party since 2009, decided to participate in the campaign of the NDC after witnessing some changes under the leadership of President John Mahama. Special Aide to the former President, Kofi Adams is reported to have confirmed the news on Asempa FM, a few moments ago. This was after a marathon meeting with senior members of the party on Tuesday afternoon. However, speaking to peacefmonline.com, Mr Adams was non-commital on the issue. According to him, he (Adams) only read a statement on behalf of the former president urging former NDC members to join hands and hit the campaign trial of the ruling party. "Whether that constitute or implies Rawlings has joined the NDC campaign trail, i don't know because i never said anything of that sort in the statement i read...let people construe whatever meanings they want to...be patient for our statement which we will issue shortly," Kofi Adams said. It would be recalled that in October of this year, the former president, at a meeting with the flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo, indicated that he might not join the campaign for either the NDC nor his wifes party, the National Democratic Party (NDP). I may not be very active on the campaign trail so you can be rest assured," Mr Rawlings told the NPP Presidential Candidate when the latter paid him a visit at his Ridge residence. The former President Rawlings has repeatedly bemoaned the fact that the NDC has lost track of the core values of probity, accountability and transparency that the party was founded on. He is on record to have slammed the late President Mills for looking on while the NDCs philosophy were fed to the dogs. Well, it remains to be seen whether Mr Rawlings will swallow his earlier words and join the NDC campaign trail or not. Stay tuned in for more details.
