We Wont Stop Airing Otabil Ad Education Watch

Education Watch, the group responsible for the production of the advert against the free Senior High School policy of the New Patriotic Party has insisted it will not stop using the voice of the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, Dr. Mensah Otabil in the advert. Dr. Otabil last week expressed his displeasure at the commercial and called on the President to call his party supporters to order. The President, John Mahama, has meanwhile dissociated himself from the commercial. The Christian Council of Ghana in an earlier statement also urged the group to desist from using Pastor Otabils voice in the commercial. Executive Secretary of the Education Watch, Agbezuge Kofi Doe-Lawson has however told Citi News his outfit will not back down and will continue sponsoring the commercial. He asked, why should we stop? What is the purpose of the jingle? Is it not informing and enhancing the current discourse? What is Otabils objective when he teaches on radio and television and everywhere? What was he teaching us and telling us? He further stated that the group will only refrain from using the commercial if Dr. Otabil thinks that in this current discourse we should disregard what he has taught us. In a related development, the Christian Council of Ghana has planned to call for a meeting with General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, Pastor Mensah Otabil, the Education Watch and other stakeholders on the use of the formers tape for political gain. According to the Chairman of the Council, Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, the meeting will give the various stakeholders the opportunity to find an amicable solution to the impasse. We felt that it will be proper for us to listen to what he is saying and at least not to continue the use of the material in the way that it is being used, he said. He stated that there isn't much that we as religious leaders can do than to continue to talk.
