VODAFONE Supports Autism Awareness

The Vodafone World of Difference Project which is aimed at bringing together participants to gear up for a charitable event has once again come to the fore. The project which brought together individuals with different projects will again give opportunity to a participant Elenam Sallah (Afi World of Difference Project) to create awareness and organize a fundraising to support children with Autism. Speaking to the organizer of the event, Elenam Sallah, who also double as a participant for the Vodafone World of Difference Project, she said, autism in Ghana is not well known, since community ignore autistic children, thinking they are not normal kids. She stated that autistic children are normal just like any other child, They typically have difficulties in verbal and non-verbal difficulties in communication, group activities and games, adding that the disorder makes it hard for them to communicate with others and relate to the outside world. According to Elenam, children with autism acquire knowledge through alternative means of education and such treatment and methodologies used or designed to meet the needs of autistic children is what she rallies for. Such children need picture exchange communication system and applied behavior analysis," she said. Elenam Sallah, in partnership with Ghanas largest communication network, Vodafone Ghana, would on the 23rd of November at Kama Conference Centre, raise funds to support autistic children. As part of the fundraising event, selected children from the autism centre and OSU children's home would keep amused guest with brilliant performance on the Hotel Rwanda saga. Elenam Sallah urged the general public to come support children with autism on Friday. For more details about the fundraising event please call +233(5) 04212186 or email to [email protected].
