President John Mahama has called on Ghanaians to renew his mandate in order to complete the job his predecessor John Mills started. He said the time has come to change his status as the 'spare driver' into the substantive driver. �The NDC government has done a lot in four years. Our constitution gives presidents two terms. Take it that I am the spare driver or caretaker. Prof Mills of blessed memory started the process and I am finishing his unexpired term. I believe the NDC government deserves a second term to be able to build on the foundation that it has laid in these four years. I am certain that Ghanaians will vote for me and turn me from the spare driver that I have been described as into the actual driver leading us to our destination,� President John Mahama said in his closing remarks to a stimulating IEA Presidential Debate held in Accra, Wednesday. The candidates touched on several key areas including corruption decentralisation, oil and gas, women development and foreign policy. The President on the issue of women development promised to institute a fund to support women in their quest to aspire for public office. Nana Addo on the issue of foreign policy stated that an NPP government under his leadership will bring an end to the �dzi wo fie asem� foreign policy introduced by the late president John Mills. "Dzi wo fie asem" is an Akan saying that literally means "mind your own business". That policy, he noted has derailed Ghana�s international fortunes even to a point that countries suspect Ghana is harbouring dissidents to destabilise neighbouring countries. He said Ghana�s traditional foreign policy of cooperation, good neighbourliness would be re-instituted under his leadership. The CPP leader Abu Sakara in his closing remarks said Ghanaians on December 7 are faced with two difficult choices to make- the prosperity for all or prosperity for just a few. He said Ghanaians are experiencing prosperity for only a section of the population and the time has come to broaden the scope of wealth for all and that can only be done if the CPP is voted for. The PNC leader Hassan Ayariga said he will retire all his three candidates in a one touch victory in December.
