Families of the 14 victims of the Melcom disaster who lost their lives have received GH�10,000 each from government. The presentation was made on Thursday at the Local Government Ministry. This is beside the Melcom Disaster Fund established by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly with a seed capital of GH�30,000, GH�10,000 from Zoomlion and GH�25,000 cedis from the management of Melcom. The short event was characterized by emotional moments as some relatives shed tears when they went for the envelopes. Local Government Minister, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo empathized with the families and told them the money cannot replace their loved ones, but just to assist them. The Mayor of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly announced that the fund established for the victims would be disbursed when the amount gets to 100,000.
