The flagbearer of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and wife of NDC founder Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has accepted �in its entirety �, the �unreserved� apology of Nana Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after the latter withdrew a claim that his candidature had been endorsed by the former first lady. Nana Akufo-Addo, at his party�s final campaign rally at the Efua Sutherland Park in Accra on Wednesday December 5, announced that his aides had informed him that Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings had directed her party supporters to vote for him in the Presidential race and vote for themselves in the Parliamentary contest. However, in a press statement signed by Herbert Krapa, Press Secretary, the NPP said �Upon his arrival at the Efua Sutherland Children�s Park Thursday for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) final campaign rally, Nana Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate of the NPP was informed by one of his aides that former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP), had endorsed his candidature for the presidency. �In the course of his speech at the rally, Nana Akufo-Addo expressed his gratitude to leading figures of other political parties, namely Abu Ramadan, National Youth Organiser of the People�s National Convention (PNC), and Nana Agyenim-Boateng (aka Gyataba), National Chairman of United Front Party (UFP), for their expression of support at the rally, and added also that Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings according to his information had also endorsed his candidature. �It transpires that that information was inaccurate and that Nana Konadu had not expressly endorsed his candidature. �Nana Akufo-Addo apologises unreservedly to former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, and the Ghanaian people for this piece of misinformation and regrets the entire incident.� Speaking on Adom FM�s Dwaso Nsem morning show on Thursday December 6, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings said she had �accepted in its entirety� Nana Akufo-Addo�s apology and stressed that once the NPP flagbearer had acknowledged his error, �there�s no point in belabouring the point.� �When I heard it I didn�t even believe it,� she said while apologizing for her voice, made hoarse by continuous campaigning for NDP�s over 150 parliamentary candidates across the country.
