NPP Are Bad Losers Victor Smith

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been described as bad losers by the Eastern Regional Minister, Victor Smith. According to him, the party has not shown maturity since losing the December 7 general election to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). In an interview with Citi News, the Eastern Regional Minister, Victor Smith stated that the various demonstrations being organized by the NPP does not auger well for the peace of country. The leadership of the NPP has decided to challenge the results of the 2012 elections in court saying it was rigged in favor of the NDC. Since the declaration of President Mahama as winner of the presidential elections, the party has staged various protests both in Accra and Kumasi. Mr. Smith opined that the NDC handled past defeats much better. Unfortunately, the NPP are bad losers. We have lost elections before in 2004. We had complaints to complain In 2012, we went to court for so many years, some of our guys went anyway not as a party but a group led by Rojo Mettle Nunoo and the rest went as far as the Supreme Court. He continued saying, I heard that somebody was asking you think that the courts are going to overturn and ask a President to step down and create a constitutional crisis? We need to protect the country. Now there is a clear case. There wasnt even a run off; this is a clear case of a win. Mr. Smith admitted that the NPP has the right to go to court but in the meantime, the NDC is working with the declaration and it has been gazetted and we are going forward to swear in a President to carry on with the good works that we have in mind for the country.
