XCLUSIV FOTOS: Sarkodie Reveals His BET Award Ahead of Christmas Day Concert

Rapper Sarkodie took journalists by surprise at the official media launch of his upcoming concert, when he brought out his original BET Award for the first at the Africa Regent Hotel on Wednesday December 19, 2012. After an interaction with the media, Sarkodies manager asked everyone to hold for a surprise when he brought out the heavy plaque to be pictured. Sarkodie who was full of smile said Well finally this is the BET Award. They said I took the award backstage but here we are now. The award was actually sent to me in Ghana by the organizers. Sarkodie disclosed that a dummy version of the award was presented to him on the awards night but the original was sent to him in Ghana few weeks ago with his name and the category written on the base of the plaque. It will recall that Sarkodie won the Best International Act (Africa) at this year's Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards which came off at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday 1, July 2012 and this was the first he revealed his award publicly. Speaking on his upcoming Sarkodie Live In Concert on Christmas Day, Sarkodie assured Ghanaians that this years show will be better and totally different from last years event. I am ready for this event. Weve been rehearsing for some time now and I believe we are going to put up a good show, he said. Sarkodie will be performing live with Kwame Yeboahs Ohia B3y3 Ya Band alongside DJ Mensah. Even though Sarkodie revealed that the title of his third album would be Sarkology, Duncwills Entertainment has explained that the album will be released next year, contrary to the initial suggestion that it was going to be released during the December 25 Concert. According him, Sarkology will be a collection of already-released and upcoming singles, including Illuminati and Gunshot featuring Davido. The album will feature some of Ghanas best artistes and A-List acts from other African countries. Commenting why his Tema friends R2Bees are not performing on the show Sarkodie said R2Bees is involved with a competitor company RLG so there is no way they can perform on stage sponsored by Samsung who is the lead sponsor of Sarkodies concert aside the fact that he is a Samsung brand ambassador. However, Nigeria Rapper Ice Prince and sensational Nigerian act, Iyanya of "Kukere" fame has been added to the line-up of Ghanaian artistes to perform on stage inside The Dome at the Accra International Conference Center. The confirmed Ghanaian acts include Obrafour, Efya, Keche, Sherifa Gunu, Kwaw Kesse, EL, Lighter, Awal among others. Tickets for the show which is fast running out, goes for GH50 regular and GH80 for VIP. This is expected to be the biggest event to be held this Christmas season. Last years successful maiden edition put Sarkodie on a whole new pedestal, as he was able to get thousands of his fans to come out on Christmas day, packing the venue to the brim and he expected to maintain that standard or perhaps improve on it.
