Nations Cup Begins With Goal Drought

The opening day at the African Nations Cup on Saturday began with two goalless draw results as the eagerly-awaited 29th continental tournament finally kicked off. Hosts South Africa and debutants Cape Verde Islands settled for a 0-0 result in the opener at Soccer City and that followed by the same result when Morocco and Angola also played goalless. All four Group A teams have one point with two mini-league rounds to go and two places in the quarter-finals up for grabs.
