Ghana 2 : 2 DR Congo: Black Stars See DR Congo Comeback To Draw

Ghana allowed a two-goal to slip as DR Congo rallied back to draw 2-2 in a lively Group B match at the Africa Cup of Nations. The result at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday leaves both teams with a point apiece after their opening match. Ghana scored the first goal of the competition when Emmanuel Agyemang Badu stabbed home from close range after a great run from left-back Kwadwo Asamoah. Asamoah then made it 2-0 when headed in from corner in the 49th minute. But DR Congo pulled a goal back four minutes later when Tresor Mputu scored after 53 minutes. They levelled 16 minutes later when Dieudonne Bezua Mbokani won them a penalty after he was felled in the box by Jerry Akaminko. He picked himself up and scored from the spot. Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda made a low diving save to deny the Leopards from jumping into the lead when Youssouf Mulumbu hit a shot to the far post. The goals from the game made up for the forgettable first day matches after hosts South Africa and debutants Cape Verde settled for a 0-0 result in the opener at Soccer City and that was followed by the same result when Morocco and Angola also played goalless. And despite ending in a draw, it is a result that Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will not be happy with as his side let go a great lead. Ghana line up: Fatau Dauda, ohn Pantsil, Jerry Akaminko, John Boye, Kwadwo Asamoah, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Derek Boateng/Anthony Annan, Albert Adomah/Harrison Afful, Christian Atsu/Mohammed Rabiu, Mubarak Wakaso, Asamoah Gyan
