Ghana Has Not Been Mortgaged To NDC

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South, Stephen Balado Manu has called on the National Peace Council to break its silence and speak against the conduct of supposed supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the premises of the Supreme Court. In his opinion, it was critical for members of the governing NDC to understand that Ghana has not been mortgaged to them to an extent that they can do whatever they think is fit. Some NDC supporters reportedly went whipping people on the premises of the court during the hearing of the joinder case of the NDC at the Supreme Court, were pictured in party t-shirts Speaking on Citi FMs weekend news and current affairs programme, The Big Issue on Saturday, Mr. Manu admonished the Peace Council to step in and call the perpetrators to order because their actions were driving this country to a point where there could be trouble. I address this to the Peace Council, if they still exist, that they should not be looking on, when these things begin, he said. He accused the Council of being selective with situations they intervened in saying, they didnt say anything when people went to the court premises with whips whipping people. Tomorrow, if another group goes there wielding stones, I wouldnt want to, at that time, hear of any group calling themselves a Peace Council. According to him, the Council must act at all times to ensure peace because the practice where some people misbehave and the Peace Council keeps quiet; eminent people in this country keep quiet, until another group begins to act and then they will see heavens as breaking lose and begin to talk is something I find very, very distasteful. Mr. Manu cautioned the NDC not to lose sight of the fact that they were only a political party, and not owners of Ghana...and I am calling on the Peace Council because they are the body that has been put in place to ensure peace in this country and I am telling them; if they are not aware or they didnt hear that what NDC foot soldiers did around the premises of the Supreme Court is a potential danger to peace in this country.
