Sammy Awuku, The Political Journey Is Long, Take Your Time

It is the expectation of many Ghanaian youths that young folks in the political game would be level headed and build their future with what they themselves had decided to pursue in their life, so that when they older generation exit, they would be sure that the youth are ready to take over from them. But the posturing and predisposition of some of the young men in some political parties, notable, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is nauseating and it appears that the elder ones are not putting any checks on them. Sammy Awuku is one of the young folks wasting his formative years without any elder controlling his behavior and that makes him think that he is doing something better for his future. Spewing out lies and attacking political opponents are some of the unfortunate qualities of Sammy Awuku and is likely to have serious repercussions on his future in politics. It was this same NPPs Deputy Director of Communication, who launched series of blistering and unwarranted attacks on the person of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye, the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies for no genuine and apparent reasons. After satisfying the nitwits in his party and his own insatiable ego, Sammy Awuku, last week made a quick u-turn when he congratulated the Security agencies for displaying professionalism at the premises of the Supreme Court when there were some skirmishes and they took control over the situation. As usual, he was made to do the hatched job for his party by claiming that the troubles at the Supreme Court was orchestrated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and called on President John Dramani Mahama to bring his supporters to order. Ei, Mr. Know-it-All Sammy Awuku, congratulating the police of all institutions? Wonders, they say, shall never end. Sammy Awuku, as you are maturing try your possible best to decipher those elders who want to destroy your future and those who want to help you build your political career. Congratulating the police for doing their work at the Supreme Court would not change anything because you have already damaged your future with the senseless attack and lies you were made to heap on the security agents in the run up to the elections. Young man, the political journey is over trillion miles and it is not likely that you would cross even a quarter mile because of your penchant for falsehood and irrational attacks. Please, be bold and reject some of the dirty authorizations from the big wigs of the NPP because it is obvious that some of them are just like the dead goat and are therefore not afraid of the butchers knife. Tell them, big men, I want to build my political future like former President John Agyekum Kufour, who was humble in his formative years, and look at how the good Lord has rewarded him. Bu if you want to go the way of Nana Akufo Addo and follow his footsteps, remember that had I known is Always at last.
