I Didn't Disqualify Kofi Adams - Gen. Mosquito

General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah also known as General Mosquito has debunked claims that he is behind the disqualification of Kofi Adams from taking part in the Buem constituency election. Mr. Kofi Adams, spokesperson of the Rawlingses filed nomination to contest for the seat of Buem constituency on the ticket of the NDC but was disqualified by the National Executive Council of the party. Mr. Kofi Adams who was not happy about the decision blamed Gen. Mosquito for being the brain behind his disqualification. There is no truth in that allegation; the party is not run on the basis of peoples whims and caprices. We run the party on the basis of a set of laws and the laws apply to individuals; it doesnt matter your height, weight or your position. It is the NDC constitution that dictates that Mr. Kofi Adams cant contest Buems by-election as at this time Gen Mosquito said. Mr. Kofi Adams has been facing the disciplinary committee of the NDC following a leaked tape recording that surfaced in March last year, containing a voice alleged to be that of his plotting to do all he can to ensure that the late President John Evans Atta Mills had a one term presidency. According to General Mosquito, the disciplinary proceedings have not been completed and he blames Mr. Kofi Adams for the delays. One will recall that Mr. Kofi Adams filed a law suit against the ruling party over its decision to suspend him and requested from the court that they consider it null and void. Gen. Mosquito indicated that had Mr. Kofi Adams withdrawn the case from court earlier, the disciplinary proceedings would have been completed. Unless we conclude with the disciplinary proceedings before we can find out whether he is to be reinstated or fined the matter not having been concluded, his right to participate in an election under the sponsorship of the party has been extinguished. He chose to sue the party at a high court so that brought all the proceedings to a standstill and that cannot be blamed on the National Executive Mr. Kofi Adams only managed to withdraw the case on the 10th of January 2013. So it is now that the way has been paved for the disciplinary committee to continue with his caseas things stand now, he cannot contest for any election on the ticket of the party Gen. Mosquito noted. He added that the party executives swore an oath to defend and protect the constitution of the NDC and so there is nothing they can do but to follow it to the latter. Speaking in an interview on Citi Eye witness news, General Mosquito opined: The decision is final according to our laws and we cannot amend the constitution because of one person. It is not late yet; he can still go and remove this albatross from his neck by submitting to the disciplinary proceedings and then after he can continue to be a full member of the NDC or a Deputy General Secretary of the NDC
