Snippets of information filtering into The Herald newspaper from the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital has it that the Apedwahene and father of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (also known as Napo), sitting member of Manhyia South Constituency, is dead.
The Apedwahene, who is a sub-chief under the command of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is said to have died on Tuesday this week, after a short illness.
The sad demise, is said to have thrown the entire Ashanti Kingdom into a state of mourning. The late Apedwahene, a nephew to former President John Kufuor, was one of the many children of the late Asantehene Agyeman Prempeh II.
