Bukom Banku Begs Prez Mahama: Give Me Sports Minister

Ghanas most hilarious and popular boxer Braima Kamoko, also known as Bukom Banku is beseeching with the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama to consider him as deputy sports minister since his dream to be the Sports Minister as promised by the president has shattered. After Bukom Bankus statement that President John Mahama has promised to nominate him to be the Sport Minister in his administration, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has rather been nominated by the president for the Sports Ministry. Speaking on OKAY FM in an interview, Bukom Banku insisted that since the president has nominated his own party member, he is well prepared to be his deputy since he Bukom Banku is capable to work as a minister. Oh what I am telling you is the truth. John Mahama told me and promised me that if he becomes President, he would make me Sports Minister and now that he has won, but he has put someone there. He has put his man Elvis Afriyie Ankrah there, so I want him to make me the deputy because I can do the work, he lamented, adding, Elvis too can do the work but John Mahama promised me so I can be deputy. When asked by the host of the OKAY FM morning show whether he (Bukom Banku) is prepared for the vetting proceedings, he stated categorically that he is more than prepared to face the legislatures on whatever questions to be asked. I can face them and very ready. Me, I am strong and they (vetting committee members) know me already, he said. The comical boxer clarified further that, somewhere last year he met the then Vice President John Mahama and during an interaction, told him that he would soon become President. Banku ee baa as he is affectionately called by his fans also told OKAY FM that if his dream of becoming a Sport Minister does not come to the lime-light, he will be available as an Interior Minister in the Mahama administration. If dont get the post as a sports minister, I beg the president to consider me as his Interior minister. I can do that one too, he said. Most Ghanaians will be wondering whether the Bukom based boxer is now a politician just as the former world pound for pound champion, Manny Pacman Pacquiao. In the 2012 elections, Bukom Banku tabled his much publicized parliamentary ambition for the Odododiodio constituency, with an explanation that he did not want to contest the NDC candidate, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye who is now the Member of Parliament of the Odododiodio constituency.
