School Feeding Caterers Resume Work In Ashaiman

Caterers under the school feeding program in the Ashiaman municipality, who suspended their services to the schools for nonpayment of arrears, owed them have resumed work after some of the money was paid them. Following Citifms report on the failure of authorities to pay outstanding debts to Caterers under the school feeding program in the Ashiaman municipality, the caterers have stated that part of their outstanding arrears have been paid. According to them, part payment of their money was released to them by the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly last Friday. They lamented that although the amount paid is not enough to adequately take care of their expenses, some unscrupulous officials at the assembly demand kickbacks before their money is released. They further stated that failure to do so causes an undue delay before their cheques are released to them. They therefore appealed to authorities in charge to find a suitable way of breaking the bureaucracy at the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly which is hindering the smooth running of the School feeding program within the municipality. Meanwhile the Municipal Chief Executive Nuumo Addy Nortey Addison explained that he is not aware of the collection of kickbacks at the assembly. He added that the delay is as a result of some discrepancies with the number of pupils benefiting from the scheme.
