Kennedy Agyapong Has Been Bribed By NDC

A well known footsoldier of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region has accused firebrand NPP Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong of taking bribes from the governing NDC in order to cause confusion within the NPP. Kofi Dubai, who claims to have named all his three children after the Assin Central MP because of the love and respect he has for him, nevertheless believes Hon Kennedy Agyapong, perhaps motivated by monetary inducements and a desire to preserve his business, has been making utterances that do not inure to the growth of the NPP. Speaking on Adom FMs Dwaso Nsem morning show on Wednesday February 6, 2013, the popular NPP footsoldier in Kumasi declared: I say Kennedy Agyapong has taken money from NDC. He however provided no evidence to back his claim. Pushed further, Kofi Dubai said Hon Agyapongs comments in recent times, especially over the decision by NPP MPs to boycott the vetting of ministers-designate, leave much to be desired. In the NPP footsoldiers opinion, Mr Agyapong might be a major financier of the party, but that does not give him carte blanche to speak on any matter and publicly condemn the collective stance of the party. Kofi Dubai expressed disappointment at Kennedy Agyapongs choice of words in his clash with another NPP member, P.C Appiah Ofori on radio on Tuesday, saying he was providing ammunition to the NPPs political opponents. Also commenting on recent happenings in the NPP, a former NPP Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has condemned recent utterances by some current and former leading members of the party following the rejection of the December 2012 election results. He singled out for mention former VRA Chief Charles Wereko-Brobbey, former Asikuma Odoben Brakwa MP P.C. Appiah Ofori, and Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong. According to Mr Jumah, the three men have not spoken well in recent times and he will be speaking to them about the effects of their actions on the electoral fortunes of the NPP. The reform agenda will begin this weekend with his good friend Kennedy Agyapong. In another development, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has categorically denied reports that he was conniving with some NPP members to form a new political party to contest the 2016 general elections. There have been rumours - spread mainly by pro-NDC communicators - of an attempt by some NPP members to scuttle the presidential ambition of Nana Akufo-Addo, especially as the party fights to reverse the results of the 2012 elections. Specifically, Mr Jumah is reported to have met with Mrs Hilda Josephine Addo, a known supporter of defeated NPP flagbearer aspirant Alan Kyeremateng, at Miklin hotel in Kumasi last Sunday to finalise plans for the new party. However, speaking on Adom FMs Dwaso Nsem morning show on Wednesday February 6, 2013, Mr Jumah expressed surprise at the reports, saying he had not seen Mrs Addo the whole of 2013. In any case, he was not in Kumasi throughout that weekend, so he could not have been at the said meeting, he stated.
