Oyokohene elected as Eastern Regional Representative of Council of State

Nana Kodua Kesse the Second, Oyokohene, was on Wednesday elected as the Eastern Regional Representative of the Council of State. The 70- year-old traditional ruler and farmer polled 26 votes in an election conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC) in Koforidua to defeat his main challenger, Osabarima Nana Ansah Sasraku the Third, Mamfehene, who got 24 votes, with Dr Michael Agyekum Addo, a Pharmacist, with no votes. Before the election, Osabarima Owusu Gyamadu the Third, Akyem Anyinasehe, the immediate past Regional Representative of the Council of State, withdrew from the race and urged his supporters to vote for Nana Kesse. In his victory speech, Nana Kesse thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and gave the assurance that he would lobby for more development projects for the Region. Mr Victor Smith, the Caretaker Regional Minister, commended the delegates on the peaceful manner they went about the election. He challenged the winner to give of his best by assisting to bring more development to the area.
